Grill Ideas?

Actually wait, have you guys tried using a Searzall? I use it to cook steaks individually since it can be used like a salamander for broiling steaks. I sear the outsides and then put it in a toaster oven at home. You can do the same but with dutch oven and the steak on a small rack.

Actually at home I put them in the oven at 285 degrees for 20-25 mins, then I sear them with a torch or pan. Turn out perfecto. Call it the reverse seer.

I've tried that method a good amount of times (it really is a thing) times too because it was really similar to sous vide, it's really good for pot roasts and super thick cuts, côte de boeuf, or bone in ribeyes. But I ended up just getting an immersion circulator since they started getting cheap in 2013.

But when the Searzall came out, I could turn out an inch and a half medium rare steak in about 15 minutes from fridge to table.

seared for 3-4 minutes, 8-9 minutes in the toaster. I'm just a little more impatient.

Sorry for the large photos, I don't know how to change the size.

I am perpetually jealous of the huge areas of public land available for wandering out West, but one thing we do have in the East is rain. Thus we don't often have fire restrictions.

I have cooked supper on this Frontrunner grill (or its rental twin) on almost every trip for the last five years. Easy to clean (power tools!), but stored outside so you don't have to be too persnickety when packing up camp. You can add a strap or some baling wire if you are worried its going to fall off the tire, but honestly I have done many many of miles off road in dunes, washboard, and eastern US trails with one on the back, and never had one move an inch.

Those Front Runner grills are very tempting. It’s nice that you can store it outside without any fuss.

I used my Magma grill this weekend, works good! It does blow out though if its really windy, I was reminded of that.....

A skottle version of this would be cool.
