Grill Ideas?

I don't need a stove, I have one. I want a grill that is more portable than my weber q1000 for cooking steaks on. Any recommendations?

I mean, I could do a cast iron skillet, but mhem... Having a hard time finding something I like.

This. Saw it on the side of a van.

^^^ Exactly what I have.

I will say mine does blow out if your not careful, nice construction but not the greatest "grill". Newer ones may be better, mine is the 80's CL model :D

if you're gonna do coal, might as well just build your own grill at that point and make it as elaborate as you'd like. A Hobart 140 is like 600 bucks. :)

Whoa, those do look good. And as great as fire and charcoal and coconut are, they are time-consuming (to get to temp) when you just came off the trail, setup your tent and want to eat. Even if you're someone like me who eats their steaks blue-rare.

I just realized, those Magma are the same brand of pots and pans we bought for the Airstream that all stack inside each other. Really good quality. Have had them for 3 years now.

Deb found some disposable charcoal grilles at a regional discount store called Marc’s. Think of a slightly upscale Big Lots/Odd Lots. Just the right size for a couple burgers, and only $1.99 each, complete with charcoal. A cheap option when you don't drag along the Hibachi or Weber. :)

I'll concede that propane has it's place- sailboats are a good example as are areas with fire restrictions.

I've got a folding grill that looks like one of these: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Portable-Folding-Charcoal-Grill-X-Grill/21841387
I picked it up on clearance at a Sears (that tells you it's been a few years) and it works pretty well for a compact grill. I wish the grate was adjustable but I can live with it for the convenience.

The one we had on my dads boat was charcoal. You were supposed to swing it out over the water as you cooked. That lasted as long as it took to have one accident where a piece of meat was lost hah.

Actually wait, have you guys tried using a Searzall? I use it to cook steaks individually since it can be used like a salamander for broiling steaks. I sear the outsides and then put it in a toaster oven at home. You can do the same but with dutch oven and the steak on a small rack.
