Mine was a Christmas gift.. came in a two pack. Been a decent knife for an EDC... Especially for the price.

I'm old school! I got my Buck when when I was sixteen years old (That would be 40 years ago!) It goes everywhere with me in my day pack. I still even have the original leather sheath. I love this knife!

SFSMedic, this thread is about EDC not DNC (date night carry).

:redface You got me - just a big wisher and kidder...

Microtech Scarab, Surefire C2 Centurion w/LED conversion and GG&G "bite" ring, DPx Gear HEST, SigSauer - P220 Carry Elite Dark.

Most important - FlexFit cap with American Adventurist patch in multicam. Where the hell is yours?

Dave rolls eyes and muttered, "and that's how it started."

Too bad all that stuff was lost in a tragic boating accident, except the cap and patch.

Lol sadly that is my everyday carry. My duty carry adds a 50+Lb backpack

I am a little jealous of the Elite though

Hmm, I carry a lot of junk, but I use most of it almost daily, especially when working.

A Swiss Army Super Tinker, Leatherman PST II, Buck 112, Gerber clip knife on the right leg pocket (very handy when needing a knife one handed while on a ladder or otherwise cant use both hands), and one or two other small folders in rotation if I'm not caring a pistol. Almost always have a pistol of some sort, from a J to a Smith 4" 29 or Ruger 45 single action. Always have a rifle in the truck, depending on where I'm going. If in the mountains, a bear capable one, otherwise a Winchester 94 or scoped bolt action.

The left leg pocket on Carhartts is perfect for a Surefire E2E.

ETA: was able to get into pics on the old computer I'm stuck with for now,

My favorite all around carry,

I carry a Swiss knife too, a Victorinox Super Tinker. Its blade is adequate for most of my daily needs and the scissors, screwdrivers and bottle opener get used frequently.

My newest edc is a cheap remington folder. I use it daily, and if I break it or lose it, it's no biggie, I'll just go buy another for 10 bucks...

Most of the time, this stuff stays in the car, since none of it is allowed where I work. But, the off chance I go somewhere, it is all on my hip. my EDC is all made in the USA :D :USA:USA:USA:USA:USA:USA:USA
The knife is an ANZA
The hat is a Stetson
I will let you guess the pistol(.45acp)
Holster is an Ace Case
Light is a maglite

Dude! Quick, go buy a better gun than a hi point!!!!!

And a better holster!!

It works for me, and my needs. 2000 rounds and counting with no FTF. As for the holster, it work as well as I can ask a 12 dollar holster to work after four years. Shall I go buy a better rig than a used 99 Forester as well?

No, I'm all about older vehicles. My newest one is a 95.

Just have heard of many problems with the Hi points, magazines as much as anything. One guy that was shooting one had shot the rifling out of a 9m at about 500 rds (not a duffer by any means either, he was just curious how long theyd last. They took a number of them into the crime lab he worked in). Was likely an improperly heat treated barrel, but I've never heard of that with any other maker.

The strap location on the holster doesn't allow you to get a master grip on the gun, necessitating changing your grip as you draw to get a shooting grip.

I don't mind spending money on good guns, good scopes, and good holsters. Different strokes I guess.

The 9mm Hi-Points are garbage for some reason. Two different manufacturers make Hi-Points BTW. Mine is a Beemiller. I forget who makes the 9mm. The problems most folks hear about, are from second, or third party folks. I own mine, and can attest to zero, 0, NONE, no malfunctions to date. I can not attest to the reliability of the 40, 380, or 9. The 9 has an issue with the feedlips for whatever reason, and the fix takes 10 seconds. Watch the torture test videos, perhaps go buy a 45 yourself and take her for a spin. Good is subjective, and my 200 dollar wonder, is good to me.

Gana bash on my light too? lol

I havent heard about different makers for different calibers. I'm thinking theres got to be a little more to fixing the 9's than tweeking the mag lips.

I've read one test of about 2000 rds with a 9. http://www.gunnuts.net/2012/10/11/the-hi-point-challenge-completed/

I suppose good can be somewhat subjective, though with the number of problems reported with certain makes and types, and the relative lack of problems with others, I'm taking that as a clue. If I were in the market for the least expensive gun I could get Id go with a police trade in Smith & Wesson or Glock. Fortunately I'm not in that position, and am pretty happy with what I've got. If you're happy with the least expensive gun you can get, then all is good. I'm happy too. :D

Think of the last time Hi-Point had either mandatory, or voluntary recall. Then, look at Smith&Wesson, Glock, Ruger, etc etc. I have not heard of one. The problems you hear are in the dozens, or are often repeated bullshit by people who have never owned, used, let alone actually set eyes upon one. Again, go buy and use before you act like an elitist ass.

One of the neat things about forums, and this one in particular, is the variety of people and diverse experience they have. Some have an exceptional amount of experience in any given area and it we're lucky they'll share it with us.

I'm glad you're happy with your selection of side arm and holster but Malamute was providing constructive criticism, citing some common experience with the manufacturer and not "bashing" you. It looks like you researched it well and know what you have - you have nothing to defend about your selection and you're satisfied.

Your pistol fills a niche in the market, it goes "bang" when you pull the trigger, and none of us would want to be downrange from it when it does. I bet your Maglite even illuminates the dark when you twist the lens housing... that's all that matters.

If youre happy with it, thats what matters most. The sources I've heard of problems with hi points are sources I trust. People that work at ranges, and instructors. You got a good one apparently, so nothing to complain about. Unfortunately, there are quite a lot of them that don't work very reliably.

Sorry I mentioned it, and sorry it bothered you.

Hi-points are all beemiller. Great warranty and customer service. I have had no issues and generally have 3-5 of them at a time between carbines and pistols. I really prefer their 9 to the 45 though in pistol form.

The only downside to them is bulk and the ridiculous heft to carry. I can have a lighter carry with a pair of Keltecs.

EDC knife is typically a Buck Paralex or Endeavor but probably a half dozen others get duty each month. Always keep a couple in each vehicle and bag I carry.

The EDC I need to step up the game on is in the multi tool dept. Tried several and nothing has clicked yet.
