E. Clampus Vitus

They really do place a lot of historical monuments in the west.
And that's the part that really interests me. It doesn't hurt that they enjoy adult libations but the historical markers are what I am really interested in.

Which Chapter are you looking at joining Scott? I've considered joining in the past, just never got around to it. The Squibob Chapter is local to me.

I've got a few friends in billy holcomb 1069, which is the chapter my grandfather was a part of as well, and a lot of the guys live up in my neck of the woods and hang out at the local vfw in crestline, which I can become an auxiliary member of, given my grandfather's military history..

Huh, I used to be very active in the VFW when I lived up north, didn't realize that dependents could join the Aux like that. I thought it was just for spouse's.

I, too have always been intrigued by this noble organization. I did some homework on the years ago after deciphering a plaque placed near the Picacho mine.

Is there a chapter local to you? I know there's a lot of chapters out here. In doing my homework now and heading to the clampout at the end of April to be initiated.

Well, I've officially put on my application. I met with my sponsor at the local vfw... I met quite a few other clampers at the vfw while I was there... Next week I will hopefully get voted in as an auxiliary member of the local vfw, as that's the local hang out quite a few of The ecv guys, and it's a great place to hang out and just hear stories.. So far so good. I got a chance to pick the brains of a couple clampers today and it sounds like it should be a decent time...

Congrats!
Thanks Bob! It was a fun and grueling weekend with temps dropping into the high 20s. We had rain fog snow sleet and hail pretty much all day on Saturday. It was an awesome yet semi terrifying experience that I'll never forget.. Now that I'm in the brotherhood, it's my turn to see what life is like from the other side.

Oddly there are no chapters in Los Angeles county.
Most of the people in LA county have joined the Billy Holcomb chapter since there are no chapters in LA. If you are seriously interested, let's find a time to meet for a beer and discuss the ideas behind ecv...

Congratulations. I see that you are now placing stone plaques. Nice. I had heard that was coming from a member who said that too many of the bronze plaques have been stolen for the metal content. I have seen quite a few monuments missing their plaques in recent years.
