Just curious if anyone here is a redshirt with ecv. ..? I've been looking to delve deeper into the history of the west, and in research, ECV has come up. I have some friends that are red shirts, and the commeraderie/brotherhood intrigues me.. just looking for thoughts..

Love those guys! I see them building monuments out on the trail sometimes and always have great conversations with them. If I had more time, I would join up.

Yep and you live in the territory of arguably the most active chapter too.
This I know, I have a friend who is ECV, and I've been talking to him about the organization. I'm gonna meet up with him in the near future to discuss the organization a bit more in depth.

So in talking to my mom a bit, turns out my grandfather was a clamper. A friend of mine has volunteered to sponsor me as a PBC at the next clampout. I will be talking to him this week, and probably jumping on this. Who knows what I am in for during the initiation process, but it should be interesting.

Keep us posted, I think ECV is pretty cool. My inner nerd gravitates toward stuff like this. There's an ECV monument near Temecula Creek that I like to visit.

I will be sure to keep you all posted. I have always been intrigued by the "doings" of the clampers. I am filling out my application next weekend and headed to the spring clampout up at snow valley at the end of April... Hopefully by the end of that weekend, I'll be a red shirt.

Just got through a trip with a senior member of ECV. Will see if I can convince him to sign up and provide more details.

I know some stuff from talking to my mom, who's dad was a clamper, but it's a very secretive organization, I know that much. I know they are all about protecting widows and orphans, and erecting monuments, with emphasis on the gold rush days of the old west, and learning about the history of such events that took place.

What the hell is a clamper and what is the EVC?
Duh... A clamper is an electronic circuit that fixes either the positive or the negative peak excursions of a signal to a defined value by shifting its DC value. The clamper does not restrict the peak-to-peak excursion of the signal, it moves the whole signal up or down so as to place the peaks at the reference level

ECV is External Cephalic Version - a process by which a breech baby can sometimes be turned from buttocks or foot first to head first. It is usually performed after about 37 weeks. It is often reserved for late pregnancy because breech presentation greatly decreases with every week.

Try to keep up Mark... :D

Leave it to the peanut gallery to show up.. ;) I've always been intrigued by California and gold rush history.. And knowing my grandpa was a clamper makes this something I really think I need to pursue.. He was an adventurist in his own right always camping and exploring. He was a man after my own heart in those regards. I feel like I should explore ECV to at least explore his lifestyle a little bit more.

What Mark was asking is about EVC: Ethernet Virtual Connection.

Carrier Ethernet Services operate over Ethernet Virtual Connections or EVCs . An EVC is an association of two or more UNIs. These UNIs are said to be in the EVC. A given UNI can support more than one EVC via the Service Multiplexing attribute.

:thumbsup

We stopped at 3 of their historical markers on the recent trip to Death Valley.
