Camping and Traveling with Babies/ Kids

I have my grandson wear a bicycle type helmet when he is off roading with me. This is when we are in my Wrangler with an exposed roll cage that he can bang his head on. Probably not an issue in most SUV's/trucks, but something to think about in rough terrain.

I absolutely love this thread. Thanks a ton everyone who has advice to offer. We just had our first. Hes now almost 2 months old. We want to take him out but not sure if we can. It's been extremely helpful reading through this thread.

Ditch the Pack and play. I live in 195sq ft, those things got replaced within the first month.

We replaced ours with a Lotus Crib. It's compact in size, weight, and very portable for this lifestyle.

Space is function is everything for me. You'll pay more, but your life will be better for it.

I like the 11 pounds, we got a pack in play (still in the box) but it is way more than 11 pounds has to be closer to 30 based on the "pick it up scale"

I saw this awhile back and was curious if it's any good.

To give a sense of scale, here are some photos I took right now. Most of the time when not in use, I keep them stacked on top of each other under my standing desk. They're taking up 8 inches by 24 inches of space. The weight was a big motivator, you can carry both of them easily. We have two.

Really good build quality.

When the wife showed me this, I kind of was like, man that's a lot for a crib. But it's been worth it for the weight and space savings. Also, the setup and break down time is significantly faster. It's just easier to break this down and stuff it back in it's container, takes under 3 mins to set it up.

While I like that, and I understand saving space, the pack n play, we already had, and I have an 8 foot truck bed to fill with stuff so space is not exactly at a premium for me.. so rather than spend more money in a portable crib, the pack n play will work fine for us, but I can definitely see where the one you mentioned would work for a lot of people much better than a pack n play.

We are taking your recommendation, UPS picked up the pack and play today and it is on it's way back to Amazon
