Camp Showers; An AAV Members Comparative Review

Sorry for the very uneducated question...how is shower runoff controlled?

There is no floor in the shelter. So it is absorbed into the ground. We have a teak wood shower floor to stand on but you could throw down a tarp folded up or even use a door mat as well if you're worried about splashing or mud. We place a camp chair outside next to shelter to hold change of clothes, towels, and a place to sit if you want to put your boots back on.

That's a great option and quite honestly it probably takes up less room than the Redwood one from Expedition Ops. The advantage of the Expedition Ops mat is that you get a wee bit larger footprint with it - I used mine at Overland Expo as a door mat to help keep mud out of the camper.

Buy and rip some TREX decking, a few feet of SS cable and Voila you have a shower mat for 1/3 of the price.

Yea I like that idea, you can use treated lumber but once you rip it and drill the holes you are creating an untreated surface plus all the extra sanding/staining/polyurethane. Also if you use trex you can use 55 cord instead of ss cable because it wont matter if the cord stays wet inside the boards.

The World Market Bamboo Bath mat and Trex options noted above are quite intriguing. Thanks for posting those ideas up.

That said, if any of you have a pic of the Trex option after completion, it'd be nice to see it as it makes a ton of sense.

Saw these at Moab years ago. Took pics with permission of Expedition Ops and then came home and made one myself. Love it!

Paige found this at Home goods

It rolls up and fits inside the bag with out Lightspeed Privacy tent (before expo I would have told you how awesome the pahque enclosure was, but this lightspeed beats it in every way)
