California Wild Fires, 2017

@bob91yj Sounds like it's time to set up a HAM in the truck and program it with repeaters nearby, and program one of your handhelds with the same repeaters, so you two can talk back and forth during such times.

Which would mean you two would need to get the licenses if you don't already have them. Folks who tend to listen in on repeaters can be bitchy folks when it comes to that.

Well wishes and prayers to all of our members who are being impacted by these terrible fires. I grew up in Escondido and have many fond memories of going to the mountains east of there. Everytime I smell a eucalyptus tree, it reminds me of home.

Everyone nearby or with family of friends affected; postive thoughts and well wishes are with you all. Stay safe!
To the first responders in harms way, as well!!

The thought crossed my mind. I almost left a handheld with Machelle just to see if I could hit it from work with my truck. I didn't try it, our trailer is in a valley, so it's somewhat doubtful it would have worked without a repeater.

I'm appalled that you might suggest that I use my race radios on a frequency that requires a license that I may or may not have.:rolleyes::cool:

This is the first time in I don’t know how long none of these fires are on top of me. Thankfully.

I work in Santa Barbara with many coworkers who were mandatory evacuated from the Thomas Fire. The smoke here is awful and everyone wears a mask (except me since I commute out of town to Lompoc). Staying inside all day kinda sucks.
