2022 Tundra

Those vans are stout, Home Depot is adding more of those to their rental fleet than they are F250s. The Tundra numbers aren't far off from the big 3's trucks, but they're certainly not setting any records.

Lots of pics, very little data. I’m curious about the fuel mileage. The diesel 300 Series is reported to be 8.9L/100km which equals 26.4 mpg, but we’re not getting a diesel from Toyota (or a 300 for that matter).

only hope is they decide to actually compete with the Bronco and wrangler...and bring the 70 series over (same frame is being used in it and the Hi-Lux as the LC and now tundra) easy enough to put the same engine package as them as well...
I'm dreaming of course but both of those trucks have over a ton of load capacity.

I bet the tundra is going to ride excellent at the expense of load capacity when the reviews start rolling in.... I really like it but i'll most likely push the easy button and go with the 200

I'm still happy with my 200 in spite of the 300 not available here and the new Tundra. Then again, one is sour grapes and the other I don't need to haul anything other than a family of 6.

My situation is a bit different... Dreams of building out a 4wc on a truck i can haul my defender with and also wheel... if i suck up my hate for Roof top Tents.. the 200 does that easily. (also the dog thing in a RTT sucks as well).. I have some good ground tent options now but having dry living space when out for an extended trip is a game changer.
the reality is i can't do as many of those trips as i want or can justify a 140k+ new truck plus build to do it when, we already have the LC and it needs maybe 20k of stuff to be done (some is already on it as well already) and a 5k trailer... even when i factor in a newer-ish LR4 my wife wants instead of the 200.. its a no brainer....

but damn it.. I want some place to sit and chill when its raining or snowing outside.. that takes me seconds to setup.
A tundra with an 4WC in other words.. but not happening...

The other issue is the 04' duramax 2500.. it's old and shitty and runs great. It pretty much fills the pickup truck void in my heart.. it could use a spruce up and maybe a used 4WC... or atlas, once i can score a new bed.

I hope I eat crow on this, but my prediction is. The 4Runner will be a Turbo 4 with 300 HP made in USA Texas with advanced ATRAC, NO front locker, same with the 4th gen Taco (Taco will get the 5 link rear suspension). No 70 series will ever come to the USA, ever. The LX 600 will be our Land Cruiser 300 series at utterly ridiculous prices. The GX might be the sweet spot, detuned twin turbo V6 with hybrid but not the same HP as the LX, hopefully still built in Japan.

As for the Tundra in case I missed it posted somewhere I haven't seen the double cab just the crew max, I have 0 need for the crew max and take the higher payload and 6.5' bed.

Naw... it's the same packed size as my RV-5.. same I have to find some level space to put it... and I need to drag out a cot and blow my mat up..... etc..

Just nicer and bigger.

I have been happier in the swag than anything else on the ground, it has been very comfortable and minutes to break or setup camp, which to me is extremely valuable.

I have been fast and light for the past year and really like it.. I eliminated almost all of my gear I take by actually marking it when I used it over a couple of trips.. it's amazing how much crap you never touch for camping.

current direction I am thinking with the 200 is to sleep in it..

2022 Sequoia rendered using Tundra...

Yeah when I think of Land Cruiser specialists, Germany never makes my list.

IDK I drove a pretty sweet built 80 series back when my ex wife worked for the owner, we were stationed in Germany.

Sportsmobile is supposed to be the cats meow (for vans) as well but have read/hear poor quality issues.

Anybody started on a Gen3 tundra yet?... a bunch on YouTube and sema... but. real world matters...
while I really liked my tundra, the payload is a problem then and now.. (the SR5 with a CC and 5.5 Bed is 1800#'s ..... Enough But adding armor and such adds up, and add a trailer in to the mix with a decent tongue weight and you're no-doupt over the limit.

I don't think 3rd gen Tundra is much better in that department.
