Gotta love the Baja Designs for spotting elk. Don't think the Turkey Slayer is ready to upgrade to Elk Slayer.

So, did you find out the limitations of the AWD system?

We found out ours doesn’t like moguls a couple weeks back while in Blue Knob.

Did okay on the sections of frost expansion whoops on the back roads of NM. The scrape marks and oil stains tell me others didn't do so well.

The road out to Muley Point was slick mud and melting snow. Had to retreat. Locking diffs would have been handy.

This where it literally paid off.

Distance traveled, 5860.4 miles. 244.14 gal @ about 24 mpg mostly doing 70-80 mph. $877.64 @ an average $3.595/gal for mostly regular.

Tacoma does between 12-14 mpg. That would have been about 450 gal and a little over $1620 for the trip.

I found the combination of my stand-off with the sPOD's built in stand-offs too high. It will fit but there isn't enough room to remove the cover.

Occam's razor. Remove one set of stand-offs. Four 6-32 screws hold the sPOD's plastic circuit base to the sPOD's steel base with the stand-offs. My mount will replace the sPOD's steel base with a heavier plastic one. Due to the thickness of the replacement base the access ports on the underside bevel out to allow the cables more bending room.

So far I've resist the urge to start down the dark path of a 6000 lb Crosstrek. Mostly thanks to just being lazy. Aftermarket roof racks are comparatively cheap for a Crosstrek. I just get to the part of the instructions about dropping the headliner and I've reached no-thank-you.

I did get a chance to explore part of Tennessee today and do a little hiking at The pinnacle at Cumberland Gap
