A lot of places are now sold out, a few still have some left, I was able to order one from Radio City in MN at a close out price of $289.

8900 is a quad band Dave. It's been around for awhile already. I've had the 8800 in the truck for years and love it. Picked up another at same $289 from DX Engineering for my commuter Prius and installed it this past weekend. Nice to already have the programming software too!

The problem is it is a quad band with a single antenna source. Either you split it or you run the fragile quad band with coil antenna. A branch strike killed the dual band version of the same diamond design. The Larsen I have now has survived some abuse.

Another good reason to grab an 8800 if you can find one!

Do you find much use for the 6 and 10 meter bands? I would think the antenna size would be problematical on a trail rig, you don't have a problem with that?
