So this weekend is the Wings of Freedom Tour, this time at Zamperini Field in Lomita, CA.

Fortunately, I live under the flight path a mile or so from the airfield so we get flyovers every weekend from all sorts of aircraft, ranging from personal craft to private jets, and the always wonderful old warbirds that frequent this airfield.
Lucky for us, the Wings of Freedom Tour is in town for 4 days until this Sunday and since we were finally homebound for a weekend with just home tasks to do, I was lucky enough to watch these old birds fly over a few times, and then for their final approach for landing. This year, they have a B-24 Liberator, B-25 Mitchell, B-17 Fly Fortress, two P-51 Mustangs, AT-6 Texan, and an A-1E Skyraider.
I was able to run and grab the camera as they flew over my house, but I was limited to my 70-200mm f/2.8 lens. I forgot to change my shutter speed priority for the motion props too... but I'm itching for a 500mm for the purpose of this alone as I've been wanting to do this for a long time. We'll be homebound Sunday so I'll be sure to snag some more photos as they'll be running flights all day again. Maybe we'll have time to stop by the airfield and get some up-close shots.
Unfortunately the big bombers were shot in the AM with patchy overcast so the lighting was terrible. Power lines, trees, buildings and houses blocked some shots but these were the best I could get. Enjoy!
