I packed the family up and headed to the lake for the weekend. During the summer months the jeep stays at home. It's time to head to the lake for some fishing and good ol' fashion relaxing.
Home for the next few days

The weather this weekend is going to be fantastic. Right now it's about 75 deg. For august in Texas that's just in heard of. My adventure vehicle for this weekend

The east coast is soaking wet, we had plans - backpacking trip, but that would suck ; )

I think my wife has plans for us on Sat night, but I might try and sneak out for a day trip on Sunday

We were going to go camping but its looking like another wet weekend. Instead we'll probably try to sneak in a hike or maybe a paddling trip in own of our local marshes.

Well we went fishing for some sand bass this afternoon. Took us. Bit but we found them. My daughter doesn't fish very often so when we found the sand bass I was excited. She put a couple in the boat,I boated a few.

then tragedy struck. My daughter caught my son

needless to say the fishing ended with a trip to the er. All is well now.
The adventure continues. Wonder what tomorrow will bring

Wow that could have been really bad if it was in the eye but the bright side is now you'll have a great story to tell at the family gatherings, might even go generational?

Ouch! Glad to hear all worked well. I think it is safe to say that has happened to all who cast lines in search of fish.

Well the fishing today was not very exciting. Did manage enough for supper tonite. It's hard to beat fresh caught/cooked fish lake side.
Thought I would post a pic of my fish frying set up

not many leftovers

Nice set up and fish. Glad your son is OK, I hooked my daughter while fly fishing.... felt bad and the injury was no where near that bad!

Yea. We are getting to where we are laughing about it. We all went out this evening and no one received new holes. Mama was a nervous wreck. It makes for good memories.

BlkWgn- I bought that skillet from Cabelas pre seasoned for $40. I love that thing. It will cook up a whole mess of food in a short time.

Me and my son went out early this morning in hope of finding the sandies again. Went to the usual spots with no luck then we just stumble on to them. Sorry no pics we were to busy reeling them in. It was crazy there for a while. We didn't keep any today just went for the catching.

Oh does that bring back memories! I've got a very nice scar above one of my eyes from a fish hook when I was a kid. 1/4 inch lower and I'd have been minus one eye. I was standing way to the side of another kid and he cast sideways instead of straight back. I was very lucky and it looks like this young man was too! Glad it was a happy ending and nothing but a good campfire tale!

My dad used to take a pair of toe nail clippers and snip off the barb when he was teaching me how to fish. I learned how not only to be a better fisherman but also how to tell tales about the ones that got away. A real two fer
