Weirdest thing

I just watched a bright orange light travel across the sky for probably a full minute. It pulsed slightly, was traveling below the clouds and made no noise at all. I took 42 seconds of video, and if I can figure out how to post it from my phone I will. I know that the Persied meteor shower is going on, but this wasn't a meteor, too slow, and too long, or at least longer and slower than I have ever seen. Any thoughts? I'm not crazy, my wife was there, and I do have video....

Could you identify it?
No?
UFO then.

Put on your aluminum foil cap....

Did you call it in?

My friend and I saw "something" when we were in college. I called around and around and finally got referred to a DOD spokesperson. They called me back a couple of days later and told me they knew what it was but it was "classified". They thanked me for the call, for being aware. Ours was over Manhattan.

Hmm... if it was from another planet would these visitors be similar to us? Are they inter-planetary overlanders? Maybe they just broke camp and were leaving the atmosphere?

Hmm... that's an interesting thought. If so, will there be an entrepreneur among them daring to exploit this emerging inter-planetary community of interest?

Hmm... I wonder how similar they are to us? Maybe even create a neat web-site and forum, glossy magazine, and "check-the-box/I was there" travel logs; or even another with rich "military" and "adventurer" credibility who'll create a novel faux-military patch and web-pimp-site to attract others in search of similar inter-planetary adventure?

Hmm... I wonder if they have good booze or talent in the camp kitchen? If they can do a crust and rhubarb pie like Beth, they're welcome around my campfire.

A quick google search reveals that these are what the conspiracy theorists refer to as paper lanterns (apparently somebody was told by an official that it was probably a Chinese lantern). Coast guard claims they are sporadic meteors. Either way it was cool.

:lol :rofl :keyboard

Any of you guys see the episode of Deadliest Catch where the crew of the Time Bandit launched a fleet of Chinese lanterns towards the Northwestern? Best use EVER of Chinese lanterns.

Pulling up videos of ball lightening, I would say no, too slow for that, and didn't leave a trail.

I think there's a much simpler explanation than that.

Can you increase the granularity or gain of the image?

I suspect what you might have seen was this...

Don't worry - it's not dangerous - unless it get's your credit card number.
