Time to retire the Humvees

I don't think so, even hummers are cut up for scrap now days. I don't know why the military won't just sell them....

The government has already started selling HMMVEEs through the liquidation site. I think a big batch just went out a few weeks/months ago. I think they're alternating between batches of H1's and batches of the LMTV's. Thats just a casual observation of what I've seen on the liquidations site lately.

I saw one of those new vehicles on a low boy trailer. Pretty cool looking rigs if you ask me. Not sure if they are going to be as practical as the hmmvee.....

Aargh! STOP! You're killing me people!

"HMMVEEs" is like dragging your fingernails against a chalk board!

It's High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV).

 Flippin' civilians... ;)

Scott, what you probably saw was it's predecessor, the Oshkosh M-ATV. It's a little bigger than what the new vehicle will be.

No you don't. The IFAV aka Galendewagen was not a big hit with the USMC.

Yeah... I had to laugh when @travis.diller said he wanted that IFAV/Mercedes. The ones we had at Quantico for testing were always breaking down and parts couldn't be obtained for like, forever, and mainly for the high cost. Plus they were always getting stuck in the mud - as long as we fight wars on dry fire roads the truck was otherwise fine. Just another case of a legendary off-road vehicle that could not live up to its legendary hype.

They dont like being dropped either... I recall many moons ago one was being "externaled" by a shitter (CH-53) and it got pickled (severed from its tether to the aircraft) at about 75' AGL. It was NOT pretty....
