The News

What is your favorite site for reading the "news"?

I've been using the Bing home page to get what I used to think was a middle of the road compilation of what's going on in this world. I'm ready to give up on that site as well.

Today's "headlines" included a Michigan professor who has now decreed that "yoga" is racist, a 7 year old was handcuffed at school, a 71 year old was tied to his seat on an airline, and the story of the douche bag high school teacher that told his students that any one who joins the military is the "lowest of the low".

While attention grabbing, hardly "headline" news in my opinion. I also take a look at the Yahoo compilation, BBC, Al Jazeera now and again, and as a last resort and really bored, Fox.

I stopped reading the news. I don't need to be "informed". Being "informed" doesn't add jack ____ of value to my life.

As you already figured out, you need to check multiple news sources to get an idea of what's really going on. I doubt there are any impartial "news" organizations out there- they're all media corporations trying to make a buck whether by telling you what you want to hear or towing the line of the conglomerates who own them. All of the large media outlets are owned by a handful of corporations and they all contribute large sums of money to certain causes so of course they are vested in advancing and protecting their investments; as the old saying goes, follow the money.

There are a lot of people doing podcasts and such though and if you can sort through the static, some of it is good stuff despite big media's failure to pick up on it or worse, discredit it when they should be investigating it themselves if they had any journalistic integrity left.

Great post :coffee

If you don't watch the news how would you ever be able to catch up on the latest, excercise equipment, diet aids, precious metals and last but not least drugs that have worse side effects that the illness they were prescribed for? :D

I watch the news, internet bloggers I do not trust since their so much fake news being posted on social media & the net.
I watch OAN "One American News" its about the most honest of them all plus you get a little history lesson too. I stopped watching Fox News because of the over paid overreacted stuck on themselves news commentators, the chicken little drama, over analyzing , phony polls & the celebrities they keep airing.
I like straight forward news w\o the BS drama chicken little hipe & w\o the Hollyweird kooks. OAN gives good ol' news journalism with fewer commercials.

We live in the 10 hour news cycle. There is always something new to worry and fuss over. Why bother.

I admit to being a news junkie. There is no reliable source of news. You have to read and listen a lot and wade through applying your own common sense, experience and intelligence to determine what is true or not.

Pretty much a consensus opinion on what I already thought. I was hoping some one had a source that they really liked, may give OAN and Drudge a look, see what I think, or at least add them to the swirl to make my own opinions.

Fox News channel. The bias is right up front: money. I really can’t stand any of the “news” channels at this point.

Someone and I'm not sure who had made a point that both MSNBC and FOX are honest with you about that, and that the reason everyone hates CNN is they're the only ones pretending to not be biased when it's clear to everyone in the room they are.

To be honest, everyone on earth is biased in some regard. I prefer honest open bias as opposed to pretending you're not when you are.

I usually check out Reuters, then others second if verification is needed. American “news” is mainly celebrity BS.
