I just wanted to say thanks to everybody who talked me into buying my Engel Fridge/freezer at the expo. I do not regret the purchase one iota of an inkling of a snot tangle. Tanks to Dave, Mark, Mitch and everyone else for your advice!

Glad its working out for you. Your taking to it is pretty much the same as everyone else. "How did I get along so long without one!?"

Indeed. The 12v fridge was really a game changer for us.

Glad it's working out for you Dan, we've had our Engel since 2006 and it works like the day we bought it

I have an older fridge that has been passed around through the group. I got it from Trump a year and a half ago, and it has run almost 24/7 since then. It has certainly changed the way we camp

Glad you're happy with the Engel... It's hard to go wrong with anything Engel, or any fridge that uses a Danfoss compressor.

Yep, that's the little fridge that could. Would still be using it if the footprint had been narrower and a slide that fit was easier to find.

12v 'fridges in general rock.

For the more budget conscious, I've had my 43qt Edgestar running almost continuously since I bought it '08. When it's not bouncing around in the back of one of my vehicles, it's sitting on the back porch keeping beer, water and kid's juice drinks cold.

I know a few folks that have had those Edgestars with good results too.

Who needs ice when you can chill the Tequila and mix on the way out? (Jerry juice excluded and is now banned). Plus, you don't have to nearly freeze good beer to make it palatable. I love my Engel, BUT the only downside is camping away from the vehicle like a hike in spot even if it's only 100 yards down a trail. So keep that regular cooler!

We did an ARB for our last outing and as much as I love the fridge, I missed having ice for drinks.

I put cubes in a 1 gal ziplock bag, and keep the temp inside the fridge about 33*. Presto, drink ice without the mess. It may melt a little over several days, but not much, and still works well.

I forget his name, but he runs two fridges (one in trailer, one in truck). The smallest one is a freezer...we had ice cream in hot Big Bear over the summer a few years ago. Won't ever forget that. So much that I keep my eyes open for a tiny Engel to come along.

I have brought ice cream on day runs in the past. Always goes over well. Since I don't have two fridges, I cant do both fresh and frozen hard on the same trip. Ice cream requires well below freezing.
