I don't normally go around asking for money for anyone. That said, I'm asking the members of this forum to consider supporting this effort.
Below is some information and two links. Retired Chief Petty Officer Ralph Zastrow is riding his MTB in the Great Divide Mountain Bike Race from Canada to Mexico to raise money for an injured brother - Ralph is a good dude and I owe it to him, and to injured Petty Officer Ian McClanahan, to get the word out on this.
Please support this worthy cause and spread the word!

From Ralph Zastrow:
I am embarking on a bicycle ride from Banff Canada, to Indian Wells NM in order to honor and raise money for Petty Officer Ian McClanahan. All donations will go to Ian McClanahan.
Assigned as a Fleet Marine Force Hospital Corpsmen (AKA: Combat Medic in other uniformed services) Ian was involved in a devastating mortor explosion in Hawthorne Nevada on March 18th 2013 while preparing for a combat deployment.
That night displaying great courage and selflessness Ian ignored his own massive facial and airway wounds, delayed his own evacuation to assist and direct care to others who were severley injured. In fact Ian held his own airway open for over an hour untill arriving in a Reno Nevada emergency room.
I invite everyone to read Ian's story at Praying for Ian . Ian has recived multiple reconstructive surgeries and has experienced many set backs... Ian is blessed with a devoted wife and together they have endured the last eighteen months with great character. The future holds many challenges for the McClanahans, and there are many benefits that Ian is not eligable for since his injuries were not recieved during combat operations.
