Smitty Built 2.6K generator

Just received my 4WheelParts catalog. They have a SmittyBuilt 2600 generator for $849 with $100 instant rebate too. Does anyone have any experience or heard anything about them? May I assume 4WP would offer additional insurance coverage? I don't need one for a lot of use but my FWC has AC and here in TX we need it some when off grid.

Save yourself grief and just buy a Honda. They don't need insurance and what good is insurance in BFE when it quits and it's 100 out?

OK I get it Honda is the standard. But does anyone have any actual use or knowledge of someone using this Smittybuilt? For as little as I'd use it the $300 savings helps. The FWC has dual batteries and solar so it's not a matter of ever REALLY needing it. Just hate not camping here in TX in the summer because wife wants AC. I know there are a lot of Parks with electricity but I like primitive areas.
People rag on SmittyBuilt Winches too but mine has not let me or people I'm helping down.

Friends don't let friends buy smittybilt

Experience? As I said I've used Smittybuilt quite a bit and with maintenance (knock on wood) I've had good experience. I've seen reviews on this Gen but no firsthand knowledge. I'm old and I'm cheap ;)

Ah the wonderful Interweb, ask 1 simple question and get 100 answers. It boils down to your bucks - your choice. Just make sure you get outside and enjoy it, hot or cold.

Still doing research. The Smittybuilt is 2.6K but is larger footprint and heavier too :( Some of the weight is from the electric start which is a plus for us. I sometimes pull my off road trailer behind my truck and the FWC on longer trips so I can store a generator there. Would the extra watts be necessary/helpful for charging my FWC and the trailer with refrigerator while running AC? I see Honda makes a 3K about same size and weight too.
