REVIEW: DeLorme inReach SE

I recently (about 4 months ago) switched from the Spot to the inreach se. I originally got the spot because I do a lot of trips solo, and wanted one more level of safety. It worked flawlessly, and I used it often but I realized it was not enough. Being able to contact help if i needed it was comforting, but what if something happened at home? I find it far more comforting knowing that if something should happen at home or with familily that they can get in contact with me. The 2 way communication was a huge selling point

That's a good point, Cris.

Great article guys!

FYI I have a gen1 Inreach available for adoption not as fancy as SE but still performs basically same function.

I recently switched from my old SPOT Connect to an InReach SE. Overall I'm pleased with it and the 2-way messaging is a huge improvement. I also really like that you get confirmation that your message got out.

My sources at DeLorme tell me they are working on a couple of pretty major upgrades for the newer InReach Explorer.
