Hey guys
June 1-3 2018 will mark the 2nd annual Red Clay Rally. The 2017 Rally took place this June and Incorporated 108 vehicles on 46 teams. The rally is a European style Time/Speed/Distance rally that spans over 3 days, and the 2017 rally covered over 870 miles of dirt, pavement, and trail. This was held in Tennessee, North Carolina and Georgia. The trails are moderate (subjective) and from the feedback left by competitors of the 2017 event, the most grueling aspect of the rally was the long days. The rally isn't designed to prevent people from finishing but last year, 11 teams dropped out due to fatigue, vehicle failure, or a mixture of both. This is not a cakewalk and isn't for people who are not prepared to be self sufficient for several days. The majority of last year's competitors have signed up (they were given early registration privilege) but we still have some spots for people interested in competing.
We encourage people of all experience levels to register, but ask that you are proficient in digital map reading before starting. There will be nobody to hold your hand in the event that you get lost.
Rally 2018 will take place in Tennessee, Virginia, Kentucky, and West Virginia. Last year's rally brought concerns from locals that the heavy traffic would bring attention to trail closures etc. It did not, but 2018 will avoid this by going much more remote in an attmept to minimize this concern.
Registration is OPEN and I will update this page when it fills up. The cap is 100 vehicles. To register go to www.overlandtennessee.wixsite.com/redclayrally
Several sponsors are sponsoring the event and will provide prizes to the top teams.
You must have a true 4 wheel drive with good ground clearance. A factory Rubicon or TRD taco/4runner will suffice but you will have to choose good lines, carefully.
Teams will be 2 to 4 vehicles. No solo vehicles will be permitted due to safety concerns.
Last year's rally was won by a team of Venezuelans/Bolivians. They won by only 4 points. They are entered this year and plan to grab their second win.

Peach State Overland competed last year and posted a 3 video series of their experience during the rally, detailing their adventure.
