Planning a Spain Trip and Renting an F-150

I'm looking to visit Spain next year and was considering renting an F-150 for easy travel between destinations with the possibility of doing some camping. However, after reading about the narrow roads in Europe, especially in cities and rural areas, I'm worried the size might be impractical. For people who have driven in Spain, is an F-150 too large? I find one post on Reddit comparing streets in Spain with those in the USA
Any recommendations for a vehicle large enough for camping gear but still manageable on narrower roads would be appreciated. Hoping to get some insights before confirming my rental!

F-150 might indeed be a bit too bulky for the often narrow and winding roads in Spain, especially in older city centres and rural areas. You might find parking and manoeuvring a challenge. For camping trips, consider a smaller camper van that’s equipped for the outdoors but still comfortable to drive on those tighter roads. They offer a good balance between space for your gear and practicality for European roads. You can check Indie camper for renting one https://indiecampers.com/rent-an-rv?lat=36.58180&lng=-87.41620 Btw Where are you planning to go in Spain?

Thanks for the recommendation, a small campervan is a great idea for navigating the narrow European roads while still having camping accommodations. At this point, our tentative itinerary includes spending time in Barcelona, Madrid, Seville, and Granada. We'd love to do some camping along coastal areas as well. Mainly looking to experience the different cultures and landscapes across Spain. If you have any particular campsite or rural area recommendations based on that route, we'd love to hear them, @bobbywilson!

You can go camping near Barcelona in Vilanova Park. There are plenty of amenities. If you’re looking for a beachfront experience, Camping Estrellas in Gavà might be just what you need, or else you can go for Bayona Playa in Baiona. These sites should give you a mix of cultural experiences and relaxing coastal vibes. Thanks so much for the specific campsite recommendations - Vilanova Park, Camping Estrellas, and Bayona Playa all sound like great options to consider for their varying locations and amenities. And that tourism statistics article provides a useful overview of weather, must-visit attractions, food, transportation, dos & don’ts, and safety. Spain has so much natural beauty and distinct regional culture to take in. Having suggestions for how to mix urban exploration with coastal downtime will really help us make the most of our trip. I appreciate you taking the time to point us towards helpful resources.
