Pilot fire

In case anyone else is keeping tabs on this.. Can we have a formal discussion here? I live in arrowhead. Right now they just announced mandatory evacuations for deer lodge park which is about 6 miles from me. All of our stuff is packed and we are ready to go if we need to. It'll be the 3rd time in 10 years we have been evacuated... I hate fire season.

What are you waiting on? If you're packed, I'd head out to whatever your safe location is now rather than wait until you get caught in the madness of an evacuation.

I dunno Scott, if it's that close and with limited ways for you to get out of town especially with two little ones, I'd rather be safe than sorry. What does she think she's going to accomplish by staying home?

I was in the SF Bay area when they had the Oakland Hills fire years back, the biggest issue they had fighting the fire was getting the residents evacuated down the hill while fire trucks were trying to get up the hill.

If you need help getting stuff out let me know

I'm with Bob, go now. Less emotional trauma for your little ones to go quietly in the light of day rather than in a high stress situation.

I'm about a quarter mile from mandatory evac in Hesperia. We are ready to go if we have to.
Stay safe.. Looks like winds have changed and it's moving toward the arrowhead area as opposed to the high desert. I've got everything packed in the truck that is not replaceable. Everything that's replaceable stays.

You and your family aren't replaceable. Be safe! You've got a whole community here ready to help if need be. This is already one horrific fire season and it's really just beginning. Prayers to you and to all the firefighters on the line and in the air.

Why in the hell does SoCal need to study the 'NEED' to purchase our own super scoopers instead of relying on availability of the ones up in Canada? Read that several weeks ago. Ok, perhaps cheaper to lease for the fire season down here at less cost to the taxpayer than purchasing. That's the only thing this Accountant can think of.

You to. The street 4 houses down is now the mandatory evac line. I talked to my old neighbor who is a TFO for the Sheriff department, and he said the flames are 4 miles away or so. They are just worried about wind.

As said earlier, if either of you, or anyone here for that matter needs help evacuating just ask.

We are ok as of now.. Keeping an eye on things at this point. Right now we have not left. It was not my choice. If we leave the wife's parents are coming with me. I was ready to leave hours ago just to stay ahead of it. I was outvoted by the entire family. I'm not happy about it but I'll live. Keep us in your thoughts. I will more than likely have a restless night...

Frightening stuff. I'm in California until Friday morning and as others have said if you need help moving anything or anyone let me know. Stay safe.

Any updates Scott?
As of now the fire is at 80 percent containment with around 8500 acres burned. At this point all evacuees were allowed bavk home and I don't believe there is a real threat to any structures at this point. Thankfully.
