Overlanding Music?

WUZombies

I'm an equal opportunity music sort of guy, from classical to progressive jazz, death metal to pop song sing alongs with my kids I'm sort of all over the place, but I'm also a "music to match the emotions" sort of guy. Overlanding is an adventure and as such gives an emotional response, that deserves a choice of music to match the environment.

What do you listen to?

For epic mountains I tend to gravitate towards classical.

For Big Bend I enjoy old country and good Tejano music.

For camp I like new folk revival and bluegrass.

For all seasons and things I enjoy SRV and Maynard Ferguson.

What about you?

I've never been on any type of road trip without a few staples:

This song gets played at least once on every trip. It's my theme song. It's about waking up on Tuesday morning after a weekend in the outback and daydreaming about being back there. Ray used this song on the the aerial video he took at the DRV this year.

Here is Ray's video:

Oh yeah, this song has Mojoe!

Am I the only one here that doesn't have a musical bone in their body? I'm content listening to the mechanical noises coming from my vehicle as I am listening to music. When I do have music on, I prefer classic rock.

I'm on board with that strategy Bob. I find my new LS1(LM7) entertainment system very enjoyable.

Bonamassa can rock a blues guitar. Disturbed's cover of "Silence" is one the best covers I'be heard since Five Finger Death Punch's cover of "House of the rising sun." Tango's LM7 at full growl is just music to my ears.

You sir have outstanding taste in music!! Mine is pretty much the same, I add Rush, Tom Petty, Rage.

For me folk music is the standard when camping, but I also have to listen to some Floyd while sitting under the stars (its a must). But...I throw a little twist into it and listen to the Easy Star All Stars version of Dark Side of the Moon. The album is called Dub Side of the Moon, its basically the entire album done in the reggae genre and its amazeballs.

I also really enjoy this album by Jerry Garcia and David Grisman (youtube playlist), banjos, mandolins, guitars, bass, and overall good camp vibes -

I throw a ton of other stuff in the mix as well, but really enjoy these two albums. Artists I recommend:

Gregory Alan Isakov
The Districts
Other Lives (these guys are great camp tunes too)

I grew up in North Texas and Choctaw Bingo is one of my all time favorites. I knew those people, they exist.

Nailed it. I would add Dave Matthews as well.

I'm primarily a podcast fan though. Helps the miles between trails pass a little faster.

For me every trip is a Skynyrd trip except for Monache Meadows, that has always been a John Denver weekend.
