Oil Lanterns

Do you use an oil lantern? (Kerosene, Citronella, etc). I've been using mine for a few years now (have two) and love them! Soft warm glow and when you can't have a fire, it's nice to have flame.

I had several of them when I lived in Florida.
Useful during hurricane season... ...I left them for the new home-owners that bought my house.

I prefer firelight for mood but I'm much better known for my dalliances with semiconductor light sources.

I collect them, and use them on the patio, and when camping all the time. I like the soft ambient light they produce.
Much better for your night vision than being blinded the bright, noisy hissing of pressurized type lanterns, though they also have thier place.
It's nice to be able to still see beyond your camp at night.

I used to use one all night in my cargo trailer conversion. I used it like a night light, but after a few years, I found that it put off a lot of shoot and ruined the paint. I repainted and went with LEDs

I have 5 that I carry in the trailer and burn the citronella style oil in them while in camp. I like the warm glow vs the harshness of LED's and the bug repellent is an added bonus. @Twin Magnolias commented that my camp had a nice ambiance at Appalachian Rendezvous this year because of the lanterns. I also prefer these over the Coleman style gas burning lanterns since they also put out a harsh white light and have the bonus jet engine noise too.

Your site looked great both from a distance and up close, and the breeze would waft in the citronella smell (which was far better than the septic truck wafting it's odoriferous wonder our way). I'm getting some warm led string lights, but a couple lanterns are now on my list.

Use them camping and at home when the power goes out. Quiet, warm light. Use the coleman lantern too but that is when lots of bright light is needed.

We have one dedicated in our Tiger for our trips. Love the light and atmosphere it creates after a long day. We also have an assortment of retina burning LED's when more light is needed.

I used thm in my yard in AZ ALL the time. Growing up they were a staple in the home. My mom loved thm and colleced them. We would always get her antique oil lamps as a christmas or birthday pesent. They can throw off a significant amount of heat when its chilly, too.
