New phone...

I'm just excited. I fancy myself a bit of a tech nerd. My old samsung galaxy s3 took a crap, so I called my cell carrier and they allowed me to upgrade to the new galaxy s5. I gotta say, I love this phone! Freaking epic capabilities. That is all.. carry on.

Nice to hear. As some here know, I'm an Apple fan and especially the iPhone. But, after seeing the new S5 I'm wondering if I might make the jump to something other than an iPhone in November when my upgrade is due. We'll see what the iPhone 6 looks like...

Sad to say, I don't even know what kind of phone I have, I think it is a smart phone of some sort....:dunno

yup i got it on the day it came out. i traded up from my s2 and its a night and day difference. what case did you go with?

Still researching cases. I'm not particularly hard on my phones, as I'm a desk jockey. Any recommendations?

I've had both I phones and android phones. After experiencing android, I don't think I could ever go back to apple. There is a bit of a learning curve going from apple to android, but once you get it, I bet you'll be happy.

Funny, I was thinking the exact opposite. My android was nowhere near the phone my iPhone is. Granted my android was one of the earlier. And the Samsung DOES take better pictures. But, my negative experiences outweigh the positives. Bad taste I doubt I can ever wash out.

I know plenty of people with iPhones that love them and would never want an android phone. Different strokes for different folks I guess. My father and mother in laws both have iPhones and love them.

The newer generation of androids phones are an unbelievable improvement over the earlier models. I enjoyed the features of my Samsung Galaxy S, but the phone was plagued with bloatware and became slow rendering it unreliable. It was not a great phone. The S4 that I replaced it with has been amazing. I like the finished product that Apple puts together, but until they design it with the features I want (and at a reasonable price, read: memory) they will never see my money. I have always enjoyed my ipod though. :)

I see a ton of different phones come through my work (evals, department and personal) and what I have found is, those people who are not really computer savvy love the iPhones. Those who are more computer technical love Android based phones.

Guess that explains it.. I'm MCSE. . Aka, a computer nerd lol.

I can see that. My wife loves the iPhone because she does not want to have to read a user manual or be a tekkie, she just wants it to work easily and it delivers a great intuitive interface that I also enjoy. And VERY stable.

We live in a world of smart phones with stupid people. Just saying...

Since this is a thread that the majority of those responding own smart phones, is your comment aimed at us, or are you trying to drag this into another "this is what is wrong with society" thread?

Though everyone's mileage will vary, I have found that Android is also very stable as long as you keep use it as is. I am on my third Android phone and second Android tablet, and have rooted all of them, changed just about everything that can be changed, and locked them all up and caused all of my own problems. Luckily I have been able to fix any of my experiments with them. I think that ability to "play" with them i sthe best and worst part of Android. It is a lot of fun and you can get far more control over what the phone will do and how it will do it then you get with an iphone, but you also open yourself up to lots of problems at the same time. I like the iphone, but it is far to restrictive for someone like me who wants to tinker
