Not sure if anyone else has seen this... could be old? I watched last night and it said based on a true story. Besides the fact the young couple did a lot wrong it shows how we need to be prepared at all times when off the grid!! Was scary incident(s) and we all need to be prepared. If true story that girl had GRIT!!!

Not a bad movie at all, saw it a while back. Was a bit disappointed when I researched the actual story though. The movie is VERY loosely based on the actual events. In reality both the husband and wife were avid outdoor enthusiasts. The bear attacked while they were preparing dinner. It began dragging the wife away and the husband put the bear in a headlock and punched it until it let go, he then fought it off with a swiss army knife. Both of them made it back to their canoe but the wife bled to death on the trip to another campsite 1 km away. There are quite a few people who were upset with the portrayal of the characters in the movie, so I'd prefer to think that the actual events inspired the writer rather than saying the movie was based on the events.

What he said. Kind of reminded me of the disappointment that was Into the Wild and the alteration of the reality of what lead to the protagonist death.
