Yes, it is rare enough in this neck of the woods that it deserves it's own thread... these are from our sledding and woods ramble today... Poor Maggie (our Great Pyranees)... she is finally not hot :)

I'm surprised you guys are taking it so well.

I live in upstate NY, in an area loaded with IBM plants. Years ago, a friend of mine who was an IBM engineer was sent down to NC for a temp assignment for six weeks. IBM put him up in a motel at their expense. Anyway, he woke up one morning and you guys had had a dusting of snow, less than 1/4 inch. He drove in to the IBM plant and the roads were completely empty. Parking lot was empty. Walked up to the doors and they were locked. As he was tugging on the doors, a security guard came up and asked him what he wanted. He showed him his IBM badge. The guard told him the plant was closed for the day and to go home.

My buddy said, "The plant's closed? Why? What is it, some kind of Confederate Holiday or something?"

To which the guard replied, "What are you, crazy? IT SNOWED LAST NIGHT!"

Nothing but ice south east of Charlotte. Not worth taking pics. :(
I'm interested in whether the school system will be able to get those diesel engines running tomorrow morning since temps are predicted to stay so low.

My buddy said, "The plant's closed? Why? What is it, some kind of Confederate Holiday or something?" :rofl

Today was hike #2 of the #52hikechallenge

Birkhead Mountain Trail in Uwharrie National Forest. We started at the Birkhead family farm, some buildings going back to the late 1800s.
Within a mile we had to cross a creek since the bridge was washed away. Not a problem except when hiking on a 15 degree morning, a wet foot would have been unpleasant!

Soon enough we were deep in the woods, only the crunch of the snow/ice under our feet.

How Kodak spent the second half of the hike. I had her off leash for the first half, but she wandered off and didn’t return, long enough I had to bush-whacked in her last known direction and back track till she returned… I was not happy!

About an hour and half in the silent woods, a rare North Carolina snow covering the hills, so a great day!
