Nav Apps and competition overlanding

Im slated for a spot in the 36 hours of Uhwarrie and have some NAV App questions.
I currently use a hybrid of HERE by noki for Turn by Turn and I use MyTrails for off paved roads. It does really well at storing tons and tons of maps and following a course that is imported as a gpx.

Problem is I've never actually done one of these comps and I'm not sure how or how much time ill have to plan and its a PITA to plot a course on the app. And if all the way points are just on sheet of paper that means typing in a ton of way points. Im thinking I may need a full laptop to plot and plan then transfer to tablet for implementation.

Anyone have any experience in this field?

Check out leadnav app. We just downloaded it a couple of weeks ago and I'm very impressed...

In fact check out one of their responses to a question someone asked on my Instagram page. If that doesn't sell you on it I don't know what will :)

I'm confused by the post title - what does "Nav Apps" have to do with "competition overlanding?"

Competition overlanding is generally associated with a credit card limit of at least $80,000. :D

There are lesser cost / private funded operations. Just cause you haven't looked or participated doesn't mean they don't exist. There are actually several. I must be the only one who has heard of the Vermont overland trophy

Relax @Oscar... it was a humorous reference to the "overlanding community" at large and their penchant for the purchase of "glamping" equipment. Many here are guilty as charged including myself. I added a smiley avatar and everything... I'm so disappointed my post was misunderstood by you! ;)

Yeah, I'm kind of new at this stuff so please cut me some slack. Vermont is up north, right? They give out trophies there, too... probably some hair-brained idea from a lawyer, I bet. I think I got some syrup from Vermont there once... and some stone soup. :D

See you in August. :)

Yeah I wasn't being negative. I got thick skin. Many years in the military saw to that. Lots of jest is lost in translation to text.
