Nice

The price is expected to be between $175,000 and $200,000 with no reserve when it rolls across the stage at the Arizona Biltmore Resort either Jan. 18 or 19.

Not really a surprise on the price. That's a lot of custom resto on a rare vehicle.

It would make a cool shuttle van for an adventure themed hotel/getaway location. It would never work for a mainstream place, not enough amenities in it for metrosexuals to amuse themselves with during a 20 minute ride from the airport to their hotel.

I had a customer last week that was livid because the DVD in her Escalade wasn't working, and she has a toddler! The horrors of actually having to talk to a kid while you are driving her to day care so you don't have to watch her all day. She actually asked me if I had ever tried it? I couldn't help myself, I explained to her that Machelle and I drove from Orlando to Philly in a 1976 Toyota Celica coupe with a 1 year old and a 3 year old pulling a small U-Haul trailer back in the day. She didn't know what to say...hopefully there was a flash through a couple of her brain cells and she realized how ridiculous she was making such a big deal out of a DVD player.

As with most old motor vehicles the wanting is better than the having it is for sale for a reason.

Bob I always enjoy reading of you making the world a better place, one person at a time.

Although I agree with your statement in most cases, I don't think that applies here in regard to the reason it's for sale. This was a company looking to resto-mod a classic vehicle... the motivation is in the ability to make a profit and not simply, "Let's sell this pile because my new Sprinter van is a better vehicle."

True... not being sold because its a POS or "project vehicle"....

Most folks today have never driven a 1950's truck. They are to spoiled by modern vehicles to drive something with manual transmission, steering, drum brakes, no AC and can't keep up with traffic on the freeway.Having driven 1940's trucks on long trips it is not for everyone.
The article did not give many details on upgrades to make it driveable in modern traffic.

Too true! Our bread and butter is converting older Land Cruisers to include 5-speed manual (or rarely, automatic) transmissions, front (sometimes rear) disc brakes, power steering, and AC. Seems today's customers get a little frightened by highway speeds, planning on braking (today), rowing (frequent gear changes) through traffic, and a little sweat. :D

Don't leave us hanging, man! Did you fix the DVD or find her a temp replacement vehicle? Or is there a toddler mom out there on the verge of a breakdown?

Largest loaner we have is a Cadillac XT5, she had to make due with that for over 24 hours in a row until we got the replacement DVD player. Poor lady, I felt horrible...no REALLY...
