Good question, and good eye. I was so distracted by the shape of it I never noticed the lack of doors.

I'm thinking it's like the "Italians Are Coming" commercial, first the Evoque now the Benz the smoother flowing lines are coming back? looks like the toy cars on the Techron commercial at the Chevron stations.
