Hey Guys,
Thought I would throw up all the pictures of the trip we took this last weekend and let you all see the awesome little place we were able to spend some time at!

We rode into our campsite in a freak rainstorm that lasted about 10 minutes. From there we set up camp and got the kiddos all squared away

After a quick night wheeling session up to the old fire lookout we hit the sack early and got ready for the next day.(to dark for pics and i forgot my camera anyway..)
After some breakfast we decided to explore the ridge line trail

This was the first run in the new truck and after the first 20 agonizing minutes of extremely overgrown shrubs pin striping the fresh new red paint I just decided it was gonna happen anyway and decided to enjoy myself.

It was really nice having a guide (BOB) Even though some of the trails had become extremely overgrown and impassable.

We then set out to explore the rest of the many trails that run all over the reservation.

This os just one of the many bramble patches Bob decided my paint needed to be subjected to...;p

I feel a nice long day o waxing in my future...

And Just in case you all don't know what i look like the wife snapped a close up
This is the face that said....well..just turned 1k miles better scratch her up real good before she thinks she is gonna get treated nicely.

My youngest early in the day.

Camp

Hah, it worked!

It was great meeting you guys! Now get off the 'puter and get the XTerra fixed and lets go see some of the fun stuff out there!:wow

After our first outing we Ran into Glen who decided to grace us with his presence..

WE had some good laughs around the fire and it was great to meet another member out in the wild...

Later in the afternoon Bob decided we needed to go jeepin,

Some of us found it more exciting than others...

Our trusty tour guide stopped at the secret training grounds for me to snag a couple sweet pics of some cool things in the woods...[/URL[/URL

My guess was survival training...

After a fun Jeep run it was back to camp for some libations and some good old fashion camp hangout![/URL[/URL

I also walked around the vacant camp sites and snagged a couple cool pics of some of the cool stuff some people had made.

It was a great trip and I can't wait to get out there again after I get some armor and decent tires on the truck!

Great pics - imagine you did cringe somewhat with those pinsstrips on a brand new truck! Wear them with pride!

Nice way to spend the 4th. Those are some interesting structures you guys found out there.

We only scratched the surface of the trails at LCIR last weekend.

It has been a few years since there was a lot of use on the trails. They are in a fairly raw condition right now. My next purchase is going to be a chainsaw, and with the permission of the tribe, I intend to work on clearing some downed trees, brush clogged water crossings, etc and get some of the more scenic trails opened back up, or at least passable. I would never post vehicle REQUIREMENTS for a trail run. A stocker with a skilled driver behind the wheel will go places that the best interweb wheeler with all the goodies wouldn't even attempt. My RECOMMENDATIONS for LCIR would be armor, 33" tires (or metric equivalent), solid recovery points, one locker, and a sense of humor. Previously scuffed paint will also make it less painful!

The trails at LCIR tend to lean towards a rock crawler mentality, with a few scenic trails, but they are still a step up on the scale, when the possibility of vehicle damage is considered. For an adventure travel built vehicle they would be at the top end of the spectrum of what an adventure traveller would normally put a vehicle through. I'm obviously stereotyping here, but it is with good intentions, if it gets your knickers in a wad, I guess it gets your knickers in a wad!

Danny's truck looks like the paint is ruined, in all reality, it is mostly drag marks through a layer of dust (I hope). I'm sure there will be a mark or twenty after the cleaning. We're all adults here, capable of making our own decisions. I commend Danny and his bride Jaime for subjecting their vehicle to the rigors that it went through with out complaint or blaming me at any point (it's happened before). It was not my intention to test their will at any point. We reached the end of a few trails just because we were both in the wrong vehicles and didn't want to go further. I suspect that both of us would have had different attitudes towards a few obstacles if we were in our "junk" rigs. For me it's my '91 Wrangler, for Danny, it's his XTerra, that met some misfortune and is in a rebuild status. I could claim that my YJ is in a rebuild status, as a matter of fact I will claim the "rebuild status"...the reality is it in a "the owner is inherently lazy and won't spend the time to finish the wiring harness install" status!

Trying to remember where I was going with this:dunno...getting old is a biotch. Oh yeah, My wife and I love going to LCIR. The campground is awesome in my opinion. There are no designated camp numbers, spots, area, or any other such boundary. You could easily put 50 camps in the main area and still have your own "space". I can show you places outside the main camp area that are truly primitive, no one would know you were there for weeks if you were really discreet!

The "wheeling" is even better, but that's obviously coming from a rock crawler/desert racer mentality as can be witnessed by Danny's truck.

Machelle and I are down for a weekend at LCIR at the drop of a hat, whether you just want to camp and relax, or camp and run some trails. If you're in SoCal and getting ready for a big trip, no better place to do a dry run and make sure it all works before you go.

If any of you go out there without even a last second invite to me, the pay back will be...umm, an internet beating?

Huge thanks to Danny and Jaime for all the pics, the report, and giving me a thread to post long ramblings that are often only amusing to me!;)

I so wish we could have gone. I really miss that place. It's great to see the trails are opening up. I had heard that only the easy stuff on the front side of the reservation was open but all the fun stuff is to the north.

Would love to go explore sometime...and I own a chainsaw! Not opposed to doing some trail clean up while having a little fun at the same time.
