Hazard:
The fire extinguishers can become clogged or require excessive force to discharge and can fail to activate during a fire emergency. In addition, the nozzle can detach with enough force to pose an impact hazard.

None of ours affected by this recall but it did motivate to give them a good looking at. One needed replacement anyway due to a low charge.
 
FWIW, the Fire Safety Officer at the state facility I used to work at told us that if extinguishers were left hanging long enough, the powder inside would compact and not come out if you tried to use them. He recommended beating on the extinguisher body with a rubber mallet once a year or so, said that would loosen the powder right up. Dunno if that's true or not, but the mallet sure won't hurt the extinguisher any . . .

I've been told the same thing by our Fire Extinguisher company that services these units for building inspection purposes.

I claim this is accurate and not related to popular internet conspiracies such as, "Chemtrails".

Yup, my Kidde extinguisher in the FWC appears to be affected by the recall.
