How to clean an auto's carpet?

So we spilled milk on the cargo area carpet of our RAV4. I removed the carpet and scrubbed it with simple green and use the high pressure wash at the car wash. It still stinks. Any ideas?

Something that will neutralize the acids perhaps. Try windex. Pet stores also sell stuff to do this for pet urine.

Google? Never heard of it?

Geez Al, I hope you clicked on the hypertext lik that would take you to a page with about a dozen solutions to your dilemma. You know, I've met you, and I believe what you said.

Is it the carpet or the Rav4 that smells. If it got into the padding you might just want to throw it out.

Ha yes, I'm trying the coffee grounds now. High hopes!

It is a single layer with no padding. I pulled it out to work on it. I hope it can be saved. It has rav4 embroidered on it. It looks expensive.

When I lived in FL , my neighbor left a box of chum (ground up fish) in his trunk for a day in the sun.....WORST stench I had evered smelled. He pulled out the liner hosed it scrubed it w/ detergent, baking soda etc...then soaked it in his pool for a week. Worked!
