Harbor Freight- 2200 compact generator

OK, I have an FWC Hawk and sometimes when out and about I wish I had a little generator. Would not use when others are around. However, here in TX and NM we camp in some hot and muggy places. My Hawk has a little AC unit I'd like to be able to power up ;)

I really would like a generator that will power some stuff at home when and if needed too.

I know the Honda is the goto 2200 but at $800 ish the HF one for $350 right now on coupon sale sounds good.

Thoughts?

You get what you pay for. My Honda eu2000 was purchased in 2007. It still works and never misses a beat. That thing isn't going to last, and I'd be willing to bet the difference.

I agree with the Honda vs the HF. My issue is... not even sure if / how much I'll use so the savings may offset the quality. Do you run an AC...have any issues? I know some guys with the bigger RV's run 2 in parallel I think. If the HF 2200 will run the AC in my Hawk I'm will to risk the $350 if not I guess Honda here I come :)

If it's over 15000btu it's not going to run it, you'll need two in most cases.

I can only run mine because I have lithiums and a 3000 watt hybrid inverter that allows me to use one generator with load sharing. Otherwise I'd have to do tandem too.

I'd try it.. but I like to live dangerously.

Oh wow, not what I was expecting. I as expecting a roof mount. That's practically a window unit. I bet you could run that. Ignore all my previous advice.

I've got a Coleman rooftop on my camper. It's specifically designed to be run off of a Honda 2Kw generator.
