Grand Canyon Skywalk :(

I just returned from a VERY nice and fun 4 week trip. A week in DV a week in Yosemite, Mohave and a lot of other BLM and parks visits. I did have one very big letdown. I decided to visit the Skywalk while in Grand Canyon. Am I the only person to think this is not only a big letdown but pretty much a tourist trap rip off?

I'm glad I was by myself then and only paid for me and not the family. NEVER AGAIN!!!!

Sounds like an epic trip and welcome back!

We have no idea where you're talking about or these locations... we're all pretty much visual learners. :D

Help us out with pictures and a little background about this month long trip or @Dave is going to start posting annoying avatars...

I felt the same way when we went and visited Monument Valley, it was full of people, and touristy as hell. Turns out, all the best views are from off the highway anyways.

We were going to do Four Corners, next but I turned around at the pay booth. Nope, not paying $15 for something that isn't even in the right geographical location anyhow.

Curious what the expectation was when you went there. Pretty much just a glass U shaped sidewalk from what I've seen in pictures/documentaries.

Is it not run by the local natives? maybe its their way of getting back at the white man....
1. Aint no way I would ever walk out over a chasm even if its completely safe.
2. Aint no way I would ever pay $75 to walk out over some scary arse chasm.
I get my occasional unwanted white knuckle thrills out wheeling where I shouldn't be wheeling...

I think it's owned by the natives, but run by the white man. Some guy got their approval to build it and gave it to them in return for being able to run it. I'm sure they get a healthy cut, no pun intended.

I passed on it two years ago after OVX because everything was a package deal. You had to pay for the tram, the lunch, everything, just to get the view. And no cameras allowed, they'll sell you pics if you want a memory.

I'll post pics after I get situated ;) The walkway also has a 2ft white opaque flooring on either side of walkway with railings. The clear part is only 2 ft in the center... thought it would be like walking over Canyon but more like looking down through a window :( I was duped ;)

Total bummer but thanks for letting everyone here know!

That's F'n ridiculous.

I mean, I get the package deal. But no photos? WTH?

You can bet a lawyer came up with that idea with the intent of keeping some dumbass with a selfie stick from flipping over the side trying to get the right shot!
