I learned today that a friend of mine who recently retired from the Marine Corps was called back to guard the pearly gates.... he suffered a heart attack while kayaking. His untimely death leaves behind a trail of broken hearted family members, friends and fellow Marines. He was a salty hard ass who didn't suffer fools but would give anyone the shirt off his back if they were in need. He reached the rank of Master Sergeant but retired as a Gunny because he violated an order to stay away from the woman he loved, she became his wife when she got out and is now his widow. Thats the kind of man he was. I admire that. He was also a rare breed... a Flight Equipment Marine who became a SAR Rescue Swimmer... he saved many lives often cheating death himself.
These are just a few tid bits about a great man I'm proud to say I knew and had the honor of serving with. If you're in the Louisville area please stop by to pay respect to a Marine who spent over 20 years serving US.
