Ok, Camp Chefs, we're gearing up to spend another Thanksgiving camping this year.
We've had many a wonderful Thanksgiving spent camping in our local deserts with just the immediate family, but this year will be a 20+ person extended family bonanza. We'll also be travelling quite a bit farther for this one, so I figured I needed to start planning now, as improvisation will be harder with a bigger crowd and extended drive times.
Sometimes instant Mashed Potatoes are "good enough" - camping is one of those times.
Some stuff easily lends itself to "make ahead": Cranberry sauce with oranges and port wine, spätzle bagged and fried in butter on-site, etc.
Several times, I've used Michael Voltaggio's recipe to pre-cook a turkey in quarters, then just fried it off in the dutch oven:
What ya' got? What are your favorite camp-friendly Thanksgiving dish recipes?
