Nope. No way that thing is going through airport security - metal. Fine for routine travel I guess but pretty gimmicky IMHO.

I'll stick with my Spec Ops web belt from the PX :D

I have to agree with Dave.

Growing up many of us had Swiss Army knives, then leatherman and it progressed. Now it's this. I laugh at this stuff.

EDC means everyday carry. I see these supposed EDC pocket dumps on Instagram that are more just pictures of all the cool crap people have spent enormous amounts of money on and they want to show them off.

Ask yourself what all do you actually use that's truly necessary everyday. It's not like you're randomly in the woods or downrange and have to mcguyver your way out of a hostile abduction.

I've been both teaching and doing LE and CT stuff for over 20 years. Want to know what my EDC is? A gun, an extra mag, a pocket knife and a handcuff key because it's on my keys (maybe a small surefire but not usually). That's EVERYDAY! Of course I carry more stuff headed into the woods or camping or hunting etc because I'm prepared for the situation.

I'm sure most level headed LE (we all have our super ninja gear junkies too of course) will tell you they carry the same similar stuff as I do.

These things are simply gimmicks of how much crap can we stuff into the batman utility belt because people will buy them. Don't waste your money. It's just like the 5.11 trend. Not sure when uniform clothes got popular. Hey guys I'm covert wearing uniform clothes head to toe (which I call a 15.33 btw).

As I read this my inner dialog screamed "That sounds like an awesome day!"

The belt is an interesting idea, but from what I can see it's webbing, either folded or sewn in 1/2 and then lined with velcro plus a belt clasp. Sounds like an afternoon project for my mother in law and her sewing machine. I'm going to second that there's no way this *should* get past the TSA despite what the video says. The firestarter alone should boot it from being acceptable. Not sure about the fish hooks...from my last flight I can tell you I was surprised to learn that knitting needles are ok as a carry on. I kept a close eye on the grandma next to me just in case she was knitting restraints instead of a sweater...

I'm not gonna lie.. I'm kinda a nerd for gadgety stuff. I probably over carry for edc stuff for no good reason..

Three words my friend. Tactical. Christmas. Stocking.

^^^^That at least has great amusement/entertainment value. The belt requires a special hat!

I think it was a project for a high school home economics class. Someone figured out that they could dump a Harbor Freight "survival kit" into some folded over webbing, add some Velcro and a sweet buckle. Then they figured out the Kickstarter thing in detention. The kid is probably going to skip college after this!

I'm guessing the delay in delivery is because HF never dreamed they would sell that many "survival kits", had to ramp up production!

Sorry Scott, you lobbed up a fat one.:D

Brian, don't think you're flying under the contrail radar, you want one too, when we're done with Scott, we'll get a chunk of you too!

Well, I have to admit I'm definitely a gadget junkie. Honestly, I'm more interested in the belt as a reasonably priced well-made product that just happens to have a little gadget swagger to it. I can't say as I'm all that impressed by their version of a survival kit.

I'll just sit here in my uniform pants and 5.11 boots and take my lumps :jump:

Not so much, those are the $20 LAPG pants, just can't see the logo in that shot. Not the BEST pants i've ever had but hard to beat the bang for the buck.
