Christmas at the Homestead

Just catching up to this thread, and it is REALLY COOL... not the forge temp, just the thread, lol. I gotta say this, here in Cochise County a good smith could make some serious money, especially if he also trained as a farrier. Folks here are into the Old West, I met a gunsmith in Tombstone who makes money restoring old firearms, there's actually a serious market for old school weapons. Combine those smith skills with welding & whatnot, and a hand could live like a king here, no doubt about it. There's a lack of good skilled craftsmen & handymen in this area, which is why so many folks learn to do their own projects or repairs, but a skilled smith who did quality work could write his own ticket. Just a thought as you do the right thing with the kid... he'll be better off knowing a skill or trade, rather than obtaining yet another worthless liberal arts degree, lol, or a degree in 'Underwater Basket-Weaving!' o_O

Edit: Of course, some scuba skills are required if one is to be a successful 'Underwater Basket-Weaver'---don't wanna diss 'em too hard, LOL.
