I just got a hand held radio ,now I will have to wait, until I meet somebody that knows how
to program whatever frequency I need, to be able to use it.

The only thing that I can listen to now is FM Radio Stations.
I hope I learn how to use it before my license expires in 5 more years and also
that I can find my license because I don't even know my call letters.

I have the UV5r, they are a royal pain to program. Do yourself a favor and spend the few dollars for the programming cable it will save you many headaches. That being said, they are a great value and pretty versatile radios. I have played with using 2 of them as a repeater, and have one set up in my truck for aprs with a bluetooth TNC and aprsdroid software

That'll be one of my projects soon too. Only problem is that I was a little too efficient about re-selling all my old Android phones!

I am looking at getting the UV5R as soon as I get my Ham license... I've heard good things, as long as you have the programming cable....

There is also a Yahoo Group that supports the UV82 radios.

People still use Yahoo groups? :D

Thanks everybody ,I already checked the miklor.com site and bought the cable.
I still don't know what I am doing but I am learning.
I could not find my call sign in the FCC register , but I had a license before ,
I will take another test when there is one close by.
It will be a while before a get this radio going.
