Anyone from 29 Palms?

Like it says, is anyone else here currently serving a sentence in the desert? I've seen several "expedition" equipped rigs on base since I returned from Okinawa. Chime in, maybe we can organize a trip or get together.

Where at in Okinawa? My family lived here from 95 to 98. I visited them on occasion when I wasn't travelling with a few hundred of my closest friends.

Hey Andy:

My best friend has a desert shack in Landers which overlooks a huge portion of the base. We can hear and see the artillery fireballs going off on the range and can see the Iraqi urban warfare training village way up on the hill. You've got some great areas and trails in your backyard! You can head out through Amboy to the Mojave Road or just head east of town on 62 - there's a whole new world of exploring and mines about 15 - 20 miles east. My favorite new find in that area is the area surrounding the Iron Age Mine.

I'm down for a trip down the back side of the mountain for a meet up.. just gotta plan it a bit in advance... I'm looking to get my "new to me" camper out on some trips.
