After careful consideration, American Adventurist will cease operations effective 31 December 2024.

With many changes on the horizon in my personal life, and new opportunities, it’s time for me to focus my bandwidth towards that future.

I want to personally thank each and every one of you, as well as our partners, for the amazing support you've shown through the years. This was by no means an easy choice, but I feel in my heart it's the best path forward for my family and me.

See you out on the trail,

Dave

Oof.

Forums have been slowly dying ever since social media came around. My own bandwidth forced me to all but dissappear for a handful of years, so I totally understand the decision. I was hoping to see thriving interaction when I gained the time to step back in recently, but participation is glacial.

I will miss the like-minded banter with you all.

Thank you for all of the hard work you and your great team have put into the events over the years.

I always looked forward to the two events per year and was fortunate to make the majority of them. So many good memories and new formed friendships over the years. Not many places kids can run free knowing they are in a great family focused atmosphere.

Question:
Is Overland Gourmet going to throw one more going away meal with Snow Peak gear for us all to celebrate the end of an era with you?

Dave and all the AAV Crew,

Deepest thanks for all the hard work and wonderful community you’ve given to us all. The forum and especially Rendezvous events have been a highlight for so many years; many great friends made and great experiences had.

Best wishes to you all for the adventures ahead and we will see you on the trail.

Erik

I wish Dave, Nori, and the entire staff a happy retirement from AAV and thank them all for their work over the years. It was always a pleasure to enjoy a campfire with you all!

Before the forum goes dark (and the FB community page disappears?), perhaps there could be a contact thread for members who wish to leave a trace this one time? A thread open for a short window to allow folks to note alternative contact info before this particular adventure comes to an end.

Safe travels, everyone.
Kevin

That's understandable, I've been on this forum for over 7 years, the last 4 years been hit & miss. I've gained a lot of good information from this forum on recovery & both trailer builds along with some good laughs. Life does stirs us in different directions, I know it has me. I'll miss this forum.

Thank you Dave and the entire membership. The past nine years here have been educational, fun, and has caused undue stress on my wallet (Snow Peak thread. :)) Even though I haven't been very active, I still check in every day. I'll miss the conversations, but completely understand the need for change.

Good luck to you in your future endeavors,
Steve

It takes a lot of work to run a small business. Changes in your personal life require focus.

This forum has some of the best information on the web. Thanks!

It does fowl my plans to attend the “Rendezvous” in retirement though!

You have my number. You ever want to drift south and see some things we got you. Big guest room and plenty of parking here in Temecula.

I’m still going to wheel and stuff. It’s just going to be low key ;)

I can only offer the gratitude of my whole family for everything you've done, Dave!

American Adventurist has been a huge part of my experience in raising a daughter who loves the outdoors. She was not even yet three years old when she attended her first Desert Rendezvous, and now has travelled tens of thousands of miles all over the West, and seen seven countries. A large part of the knowledge and confidence that I needed to put those adventures in front of her came from this community. That will be something that never changes. We wish you the best in the next phase, and hope it brings you some joy.

Dave,

Thank you very much for your efforts. I was a late comer but I did get to go to the last Desert and Mountain Rendezvous and it was a fantastic time with solid human humans. You've done well and leave a great legacy for (hopefully) another generation to pick up the standard and make something happen.

Wishing you good fortune and success in both personal and business life.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your's.
