The TV show, anyone watching? I watched the first 2 episodes last night. So far I hate every character and every truck. They portray offroading pretty irresponsibly. I do like the scenery and terrain they cross. I keep hoping someone will die!

I have not seen the show, and don't plan on it. From what I have seen of the previews, it is anything but "Tread Lightly" and will more then likely be used as ammunition against the responsible outdoorsman

the guys are D-bags to be sure. its still fun to watch just for the scenery and the rigs. i watch it muted. the range rover guy had a rant about the lack of respect for the land, but to be honest it felt staged. Maybe something the producers threw in to assuage the sierra club.

i'd love to do the route they are doing. more responsibly of course. maybe in a couple years.

Threads on Portal and Mud are bashing it big time. I'd a made for television reality farce is the basic summary of the show. No plans to tune in.

Total trash. They look like they all came from the same family tree without branches. And definitely give us a bad name. The show is not environmentally friendly. I watched a couple episodes and won't watch again. Sickening what producers will do to get ratings and watchers.

It's probably a guise fueled by the EPA to close down all off-road trails and turn it all into Federal-controlled land.... I wouldn't be surprised. I'll take off the tin-foil hat now.

No interest in watching a show like this. From what I've read, it just makes all us outdoor enthusiasts look bad with no accountability. I don't even bother turning on the tube anymore as shows like this keep spewing out like diarrhea.

i think you've cracked the code!

I have seen 2 shows so far, that was enough for me not a tread lighty group.

Except for the guy who stands up to them and tells them not to run over trees and brings up the tread lightly topic. But in return the show makes him look like the crazy guy compared to the others.

Pass the tin foil hat - I contribute to your synopsis.

I like they are only wearing lap belts and being flung all over the cabin. Next is the pre-race prep with the overheating 4Runner. Then you have the SuperJeep with the so called experts . They break the front end guard and with the closeup on the break you can see the thin conduit like tubing.

I'm on the road so I will have to catch up on the episodes. I read on Expo that some of the drivers are driving with their thumbs inside the steering wheel.

I saw that too. The trucks are a joke. If the white trash brothers say they are "Alaskan" one more time...

I think the show could work if it was more like Top Truck Challenge. I would like to see better equipment. Also, there is no need to drive up a river bed.

Aside from the general idiocy on display, most especially the lack of any welding supplies, the thing that annoys me the most so far is the hype involved.

They keep on going on about "Blazing a Trail" yet every night they appear to be in a pre-established campsite. Last night's episode there was a steel fire ring and logs carved into seat for gawds sake.
Also, half the trails they are driving on are pre-existing fire/logging and/or 4wd roads from the looks of things. I hardly count that as trail blazing.

Finally, maybe I am missing things, but for the length of the trip they seem awfully light on supplies. A more devious mind might suspect that the production crew is either carrying food supplies, or running in supplies either by car or plane.

i think calling them white trash is a bit harsh, they come from humble beginnings to be sure. i cant stand the loud mouth butch. i love the rigs, they are obviously put together by people who want to wheel but have a working mans budget. just like two of my first rigs. it wouldnt be fun if it was a bunch of corporate sponsored teams.. then it would just be the alaskan 500.

jismay, the production crew is def bringing in supplies, for one thing they have already traveled beyond the (fuel) range of all the rigs. also its lame that that they recylcle soo much footage after every commercial break- like their audience forgot what they saw 6 min ago?

i am stuck on my couch with a broken ankle for awhile so its entertaining. i've worn out youtube!

LOL, I forgot to put my PC hat on. I should have called them the foulmouthed, long haired, chain smoking, out of work gentlemen!

I have to agree there. They use that format on many shows. The suspensful cut away, then nothing happens format bothers me too.

yes your new description is vastly more appropriate my good man * turns off english butler voice** you didnt offend me Al, i think i'm just getting too soft.

i guess i just felt kinda bad for those brothers, the only one that is apparently capable of clear speech seems to be on an emotional tight rope, and constantly in need of praise.

for the most part, those guys are driving on logging trails. the jeep crew however seems to have zero concept of tread lightly.
