CANCELLED

IT’S DESERT RENDEZVOUS, SO IT'S TIME FOR the DRV STEEL SHOOT!!

WHO: ALL DRV ATTENDEES ARE WELCOME

WHAT: SHOOTING STEEL TARGETS (PAPER TOO, WE DON’T DISCRIMINATE)

WHERE: WEST OF CAMP, ACROSS THE TRACKS

WHEN: SUNDAY MORNING AT 0900 SETUP

WHY: ‘MERICA

The steel shoot will go on Sunday morning near camp. Just listen for the bang and clang if you can’t find us. At 0900 we will start setting up targets, then I will conduct the safety brief and we will go hot. No shooters on the firing line who have not received the safety brief! I will conduct more briefs when we get more shooters up, so don’t worry if you miss the first brief. The plan is 30 minutes of live fire followed by a 5 minute cold time to swap targets or reset those that get knocked over and go cold at noon.

ALL SHOOTERS MUST FOLLOW THE FOLLOWING SAFETY RULES:

Treat every weapon as if it were loaded

Never point a weapon at anything you do not intend to shoot

Keep your finger straight and off the trigger until you are ready to fire

Keep the weapon on safe until you intend to fire

YOU WILL GET HIT BY SPLATTER! ALL SHOOTERS AND SPECTATORS MUST WEAR EYE AND EAR PROTECTION. In addition I recommend long pants and sleeves

No one handling firearms who is under the influence of intoxicants

No shooting glass or clay targets (BLM rules). Controlled fire only, no stray rounds please! Shooting fast only wastes ammo if you don't hit your target.

If you want or need assistance please ask, we have several experienced shooters willing to help!

Pick up your brass (save it to reload or we will have a brass bucket)

Weapons and Ammo:

All firearms and ammunition must be California legal. If you are coming from one of the free states I suggest checking out www.calguns.org. If you have to ask if it’s legal then it probably isn’t here…

No steel core, penetrator (5.56 green tip), or hollow point pistol ammo may be used on steel targets. Steel core and penetrator ammo damages the targets and HP pistol rounds tend to throw off sharp jacket fragments that can cause cuts on shooters and spectators.

Centerfire rifle cartridges may not engage targets closer than 100 meters.

Magnum rifle cartridges may not engage targets closer than 200 meters.

Pistol targets will be placed no closer than 10 meters.

I will bring these targets and a few paper target stands. Ironworks Tactical might be bringing some cool stuff too :D

I may bring guns. I will probably not be able to bring targets as I have raffle stuff to figure out how to bring

The 2016 AA Desert Rendezvous Steel Shoot was very well organized. I might participate again this year. Thank you.

There was another group a mile or so away that set up on the train tracks. They never heard or saw the train even with the train horns.
The train slowed down and almost came to a stop before the mad rush to get off the tracks.

I'll be bringing a scoped .308, 9mm sig, and my 10/22 with plenty of ammo to share! Also can bring my 12g 870 if there's any interest. Can anyone help me sight in the .308? I have no ranges longer than 25m around here so I haven't had the chance to get proper dope with it yet.

I'm sure we can work on that :)

All I have is a Browning BL22 .22 and a Remington 870. Is the Browning OK to shoot here or is it for powerful rifles?

Have a new Howa 1500 6.5 Creedmoor that I can bring. Sighting it in this weekend at @100 yds. Would love to practice some longer distance shooting, and get some advice from some of the more experienced shooters.

The 22 is just fine to bring, we can place targets at appropriate ranges to accommodate!

Sounds awesome! Last time I think we put targets out to 300, but we can go farther. From the firing line I believe we can see about 500-600 yards up to the base of the hill. The hard part is making sure the targets are visible from the firing line due to terrain and brush.

I'm so excited for all of this! I picked up a Mossberg patriot in .308 for wicked cheap on Black Friday, but we only have indoor ranges within an hours drive! Pretty excited to reach out a bit with it and learn some things from the group! I'll bring an ammo can of .22, 9mm, and a few boxes of .308.

I have a couple wood targets I put together using some old wooden trellis'. We can throw cardboard with targets stapled to them as well. Long distance may be tough to see unless someone has a spotting scope, and/or binoculars.

Awesome! I'll be bringing my shotgun as well. i know we can't shoot clays but I'm sure we can still have some fun with it.
