IT’S DESERT RENDEZVOUS, SO IT'S TIME FOR the DRV STEEL SHOOT!!

WHO: EVERYONE IS WELCOME

WHAT: SHOOTING STEEL TARGETS (PAPER TOO, WE DON’T DISCRIMINATE)

WHERE: WEST OF CAMP, ACROSS THE TRACKS

WHEN: SUNDAY MORNING AT 0900 WE GO HOT

WHY: ‘MERICA

The steel shoot will go on Sunday morning near camp. Just listen for the bang and clang if you can’t find us. At 0900 I will conduct the safety brief and we will go hot. No shooters on the firing line who have not received the safety brief! I will conduct more briefs when we get more shooters up, so don’t worry if you miss the 0900 brief. The plan is 30 minutes of live fire followed by a 5 minute cold time to swap targets or reset those that get knocked over (or someone shot the leg off J).

Safety Rules:

Treat every weapon as if it were loaded

Never point a weapon at anything you do not intend to shoot

Keep your finger straight and off the trigger until you are ready to fire

Keep the weapon on safe until you intend to fire

YOU WILL GET HIT BY SPLATTER! ALL SHOOTERS AND SPECTATORS MUST WEAR EYE AND EAR PROTECTION

In addition I recommend long pants and sleeves

Weapons and Ammo:

All firearms must be California legal. If you are coming from one of the free states I suggest checking out www.calguns.org. If you have to ask if it’s legal then it probably isn’t here…

No steel core, penetrator (5.56 green tip), or hollow point pistol ammo may be used on steel targets.

Centerfire rifle cartridges may not engage targets closer than 100 meters.

Magnum rifle cartridges may not engage targets closer than 200 meters.

Pistol targets will be placed no closer than 10 meters.

Andy, if you need a hand with the line or any other logistical stuff, let me know. I can bring some extra steel, spray cans, etc if needed as well.

Spent the day getting target stands made and repaired and painting stuff.

Thanks for everyone who came out to shoot and especially those who helped set up and tear down the range. Unlike the others out there we didn't trash the place and leave. I hope everyone who came out had fun!

And I took no pictures as I was busy sort of controlling the line and mostly trying to control my out-of-control border collie
