Toyota FT-4X Concept

I'm just waiting for the thread complaining about how complicated vehicles are today and the wishes for a return to those simpler days...

:popcorn

I love those threads. Everyone say's where is my work truck edition with a v6/manual trans/ and no options, I'll buy one. Then no one every buys them..... and manufactures quit selling them.

...Edit: after some reading it seems the RAV4 has been dominating the market. Not sure about the demographic, but it seems possible it's doing well there too...
As a non-youthful RAV4 owner, I can't say enough about the value. It's AWD and gets 26MPG. We have 108k on our 2015. I change the oil every 10k and put tires on it and that is it. Even the brakes are still good. Flawless performance. The only thing negative I can say is that it has forced me into the position where by my next truck must now have heated leather seats and push button start.

This. My daughter has a 2WD model. Solid as a rock. We even took it up a rutted dirt FS road in Rocky Mountain NP to the top of the mountain there.

Yeah, I got it guys... I wasn't saying that it's a bad vehicle, just boring. It is the vanilla of the vehicle world. It, like most Toyota's--love them or hate'em--require little more than periodic oil changes and tires. But, the RAV4 manages to appear more boring to those that actually want an SUV to venture off road, and under-powered enough to take the "S" out of SUV. I've always thought of them as only marketable to a person that is looking for transportation from point A to point B... hell, Uber is probably its biggest competitor.

Yes... nearly every person that says they want a 70 series. It has become hilarious to me.

Uh-huh... says the owner of J77. :D

Speaking of 70-series... I drove one yesterday, 1991 HZJ73 (JDM). Very fun, that short wheel base, and quite perky acceleration with the H55F transmission. Not practical but damn if it doesn't put a smile on you face.

Exactly. My point being that many talk about how they wish they could have one. But, nobody is willing to actually follow through even though it can be done. Very few are willing to actually drive around something so spartan.

I can imagine that 73 with the 1HZ would scoot along nicely.

I'm that guy. Had I been willing to do the leg work, I'm sure I could have brought home a 77 or even a 79 series. But in the end, I did not LOVE the 70 series as much as I wanted to. Meanwhile, the new Jeep JL stood out to me in a way that no Jeep had ever done (never could love the JK), and that was that :D

That looks like Toyota took a prius and made it 4wd so they hope people won't have to drive around town with a paper bag of shame over their heads hoping they don' get spotted by their friends. I wonder if they will come with COEXIST and peace sign stickers on them?
