Scout Motors / VW Group takes a jab at Ford and Chevy

Will it be an off-road vehicle and go against the Bronco? Or will it be a soft road vehicle and go against the Blazer?

Pass me some popcorn.

Car and Driver and Motor Trend say it's EV specific. Rivian much?

Why yes, Rivian quite a bit.

EV?

True ‘Binder fans will eschew this abomination.

This reminds me of Indian motorcycles in the fact that the name lives on through new owners, but somehow the spirit is not the same..

Checked their job postings to see what type of tech specialists they are hiring. It confirms it's going to be an EV.

"Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the all-electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by..."

Unless they make one with a useful towing range they're not going to revolutionize jack. More importantly. Scout is part of VW and VW created Electrify America as part of its diesel emissions scam settlement and it's notoriously broken. With that poor of a track record for EV support I'd use a mechanics seat as transportation before I'd buy a VW EV.

The most important way for ANY manufacturer to “revolutionize the all-electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace” is by providing meaningful RANGE.

Until one of these things can take you reliably on a 400 mile round trip in 4WD, no charging required, these are all pavement pounders to me.

For me, I have to be able to drive 1200-1600 miles in a day to maximize my DRV vacation time.

running a motor as a generator just like a train seems like the way to make that happen. The 2025 Ram Charger (not the cool kind of Ram Charger) as an example.

That 690 range is pavement miles. I imagine dirt would be less.

But yes, @BlkWgn is right. The potential is there.

I am waiting to see what the RAM is like.. probably the best concept for actual off road use.. we know it will happen at some point that all you can get is Electric something...

Pure EV's are nice wagons but not practical on any of my trips... since really only cities have the charge infrastructure to support them.,,,

Our 4Xe is ok, but then again its a pavement princess that gets almost 800 miles to a tank during the school year since my wife's drive to work is only 6 miles so there and back is actually within its limited Lectric range..,
its pretty much just a jeep on trips though as that is pretty useless outside of the really small pure electric range window.
