Our Little Adventurist

I assume y'all will be at mrv?

Right now the plan is 1 or 2 simple overnighters to Big Bear since that is our "go to" place and it is easy to run to town, or bail and go home if we need to, then take a shot at MRV. Paige grew up camping Baja for weeks at a time starting at about 6 months old, so we are hoping it will just be about finding the proper gear, and pace for a trip that will work for us. Only time will tell but at this point it is all to new to know just how foolish our plan may be.

Congrats, as you're finding out the real adventure in life is just beginning!

We've been camping with our son since he was about 5 months, and started out pretty much like you said - quick overnight local trips. He just turned 1 a month ago and to celebrate we got friends and family together to camp up in the Alabama Hills for 3 nights. You'll figure out the little tricks and what works for you, the important thing is you're getting out there.

Congrats!! Hope everyone is doing well!

We had our 4th on June 27 at 8:09am. So close together! That's wild. I'm trying to convince the wife to go to the MRV with me, but 4 hellians running around might be crazy.

I'm gonna try to get her to go. We just went to the beach yesterday, and it was a bit crazy. But the MRV is quite some time away, so hopefully everyone is ready by then.

If there is an event that is family and kid friendly, it's the Mountain Rendezvous. Little chance of a kid wandering very far from camp, running water, toilets and showers, ease some of the load.

I suppose there is a very slim chance that there could be an evil element in our midst, but generally speaking it's a tight community and we all look out for each other's youngsters. I enjoy the sounds of youngsters having a good time playing outdoors. We'll have anywhere from 2-4 boys with us, ages 2-11.

On another note, Grandpa doesn't allow electronic toys when camping. My 6 year old grandson had a conniption fit about it when we got to Los Coyotes last weekend, but he got over it quick enough. Sticks and squirt guns and sand castle's filled the need soon enough.

Congrats to all three of you. I don't know which of you is going to have the most adventure learning new stuff but you all will have a great ride.

Oh...Pencil this in...Haggis' Summer camp 2026. A two week introduction into the glamorous world of the Ridgerunner lifestyle. Flint knapping, turtle trapping, trout hand picking, swimming/kayaking (not necessarily in that order), tracking, stalking, critter getting, skinning, butchery, rock skipping, woods running, cussing, and other aboriginal societal matters. Hunter gets the VIP treatment and a free enrollment just because her folks are good people. I should have grand kids by that time to roll with Hunter too. We'll send her back to Cali with a PA swagger.
