October 29th and 30th in California

Machelle and I did 56 hours straight, 1270 miles, chasing the Baja 1000 in 2010. I have less than zero interest in doing that again...until next year, when it's the 50th Baja 1000.
 
That's the beauty.. if we camp at Bessemer mine rad where we did last time, you can get there in a 2wd sedan with some skilled driving...

1wd class 11 VW Bugs get around out there.

Bessemer will require a bit of travel to get to the Hammer's, if that is of interest.

@Gallowbraid...to get you oriented, Google "Landers CA", follow Hwy 247 (Old Woman Springs Rd) to Boone Road (access to Means Dry Lake) or Bessemer Mine Rd (further north), to get to where Scott is talking about.

I'd be good with Boone road and means dry lake as well.. been a while since I've been there

FYI, Boone Road is poorly marked. I don't remember what road it is coming south bound, but going north bound, start braking when you see the sign for Last Mile Rd, Boone Road is your next right, usually a pretty good drop off when going from the pavement to the dirt. Boone Rd is a dirt road, follow it a few miles, it'll take you to Means Dry Lake, you'll know it when you get there.

Very spotty cell reception at Means. Best reception is at the "phone tree", only bush/tree on the lake bed, you'll know that one when you see it as well.
 
Bringing this back up to see who is still on board. I've confirmed having these two days off from the project I'm on so I'm in. Can someone nail down precise directions I can add to the OP? Boone rd? Bessemer Rd?

So I'm going to have to flake on my own trip. o_O

The project I'm managing in Downey has run into some snags on the construction side and I'll have to make an onsite visit very late Saturday night and early Sunday morning which leaves me tied to the area. It does, however, afford me the opportunity to help a friend and help get get @Scott 's new CVT tent installed on his truck Saturday afternoon. I'm counting this as a definite win.

On another positive note my next project (in Compton) was cancelled and I'll now be heading to Canoga Park instead. Not being local I'm assuming Canoga Park is probably a better environment than Compton. Looks like I'll be back on the West coast 11/8 though 11/23. I'll try to put together something else during that time. After this the schedule is up in the air, but it appears I may be spending most of December in the LA area as well...If this keeps up I might have to file my taxes in CA...

I'll be up in Pismo with my dad Jeepin' around the Toyota Turf and Surf event in the dunes. Should be a fun day!

Might be able to do something the 11th and 12th or 12th and 13th. This is a unique project, we take what we normally do in 3 weeks and compact it into 4 days by closing the store down and running 24 hour a day shifts. Right now I believe we're on site the 8th-the 11th doing prep work and then we close the store down Sunday the 13th and get started. If this works out I'd also be able to drag along a co-worker who attended the meet and greet last week at Firestone Grill. She's joined the forum but doesn't post...she needs to be ridiculed endlessly until she does. :D

Guess I need to verify the schedule and get something rolling...

Either way works for me, I'm off Friday saturday and Sunday that weekend..
